We Energies works with customers to ‘Stay Connected’

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — We Energies urges customers who are behind on their energy bills to get caught up before the end of the winter heating moratorium. Customers in significant arrears are at risk of disconnection starting April 16th.

The company is launching its Stay Connected campaign, using phone calls, bill inserts and other messaging to alert customers who are behind on their bills.

“We want our customers to call us, if they’ve fallen behind, try and get caught up,” said We Energies spokesperson Cathy Schulze. “There are flexible payment plans that we can arrange with customers. There are minimum payment arrangements that can be made to avoid disconnection. Our budget billing program is one that some people might not be familiar with.”

Two dead in apparent murder-suicide on city’s south side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A 41-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were found dead near 5th and Bottsford on Milwaukee’s south side Monday, April 8th. Police are calling the incident an apparent murder-suicide.

According to police, the 41-year-old man was found dead in the driveway and the 39-year-old woman was found dead inside a van.

Shots reportedly rang out in the neighborhood shortly before 9:00 a.m.

Gayle Glaser says she heard three shots and came to her window, but saw nothing. Another neighbor ran to the scene and saw the man shot to death, lying near a van. Inside the van was a woman who had been shot.

“There’s some indication that the two victims are residents of that dwelling. They did have some type of a relationship. It’s unclear if they were ever married. At this juncture it appears they were not,” Milwaukee Police Lt. Kenneth Grahms said.

Menomonee Falls police dealing with rash of gas thefts

MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) — For Heather Vogel — a gas station attendant in Menomonee Falls, the first time a customer drove off without paying for gas was frustrating.

“I was upset. I didn’t know what to do. It was my first time ever happening to me, working here,” Vogel said.

The second time was stunning.

“Shocked. I was amazed. I couldn’t believe it,” Vogel said.

As Vogel witnessed the Menomonee Falls BP’s third gas theft in four days, Vogel had had enough.

“He got in his car and I ran in front of it and I stopped and I was like, ‘Are you really not gonna pay for your gas?’ And he just backed up and tried to leave and I followed. Like, I just was, like, hanging onto the car with him as he was backing up — and then I just hopped up on it,” Vogel said.
