Former Milwaukee County Parks Director Sue Black was named President and CEO of the Milwaukee Wave indoor soccer team Wednesday, February 6th.

Black was fired from her post as Milwaukee Parks Director in August of 2012. She says the experience she gained at that job will help her at her new job with the Wave.

Jim Lindenberg purchased the Milwaukee Wave in 2009 from Charlie Krause.  He and the Wave have had a very successful run.  Season tickets, corporate sponsorships, merchandise sales, game attendance and school day attendance have all increased every single year.

Milwaukee Brewers offer baseball fans new clothing options

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — The Milwaukee Brewers have lots of new items for baseball fans to purchase at the beginning of the new season.

Tyler Barnes, Vice President of Communication for the Brewers, says the team wants to do something for everyone and stay ahead of the curve — they want to understand what people want and then create those items.

With that in mind, the new items include new replica jerseys for infants and track suits for little kids. For the ladies, the Brewers are now selling team yoga pants.

Wisconsin unveils new tourism ad directed by David Zucker

MADISON (WITI) — The Wisconsin Department of Tourism unveiled a new television ad on Monday, March 18th — and once again, it’s the creation of Wisconsin native and Hollywood writer/director David Zucker.

Shooting for the summer TV spot took place in summer 2012 at Plum Lake in Sayner, Wis. It stars actor Robert Hays of “Airplane!” fame, who plays the part of a befuddled fisherman who finds that it doesn’t take a lot of skill to have fun in Wisconsin.

Four Wisconsin women, all former pageant winners, have cameos in the commercial. They are Katie Sawyer of Egg Harbor, Caitlin Machol of Milwaukee, Teaka Griesbach of Combined Locks, and Kristina Schoh of Holmen.

The spot will begin airing this May 2013 in a variety of Midwest markets.

Help Milwaukee secure a national social media convention

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — The Social Media Tourism Symposium (SoMeT) is looking for a city to host its national conference in 2013 — and once again, Milwaukee is in the running. But your vote is needed!

In 2012, Milwaukee was second best. The city lost a good fight to El Paso.

2013 SoMeT will bring 300 influential social media managers from around the country to meet in one city in November. Visit Milwaukee says it could pump more than $350,000 into the local economy.
