Settlement reached with Kewaskum Police Officer

KEWASKUM - The Village of Kewaskum has reached an agreement with Police Officer Troy Ellis.

Ellis had been suspended with pay since June 2011 following an incident that happened while he was off duty.

The Germantown Police Department was assigned to investigate the incident.

In early August, results of the investigation were turned over to the Village of Kewaskum and the Village’s labor attorney determined whether there was just cause for internal charges.

While the Village declined to pursue charges, Ellis has signed a five-page document agreeing to voluntary retirement; his last day will be May 10, 2012.

Per the Oct. 7, 2011 agreement, Ellis will remain on paid leave of absence until Dec. 31, 2011. Effective Jan. 1, 2012 Ellis agrees to use all his accrued leave to remain in paid status until Feb. 12, 2012.

Menomonee Falls police warn of recent reports of suspicious people

The Menomonee Falls police department has had a few reports of suspicious people in the village.

  • July 20 at 11:50 a.m. at the farmer's market: A grandmother was walking with her two grandchildren as they were approached by a man who they believed was in his 60s. The man asked them if they wanted teddy bears and then left. The police feel this was not at all an attempt of child enticement and that it was just a vendor at the market.

  • July 26 10:30 a.m. on One Mile Rd: A six-year-old boy was riding his bike in his driveway as two male subjects approached in a dark red vehicle. One of them asked the boy his name and the boy ran inside to tell his mom. Two squad cars were dispatched to the area but they were unable to locate the vehicle.

Police remind everyone to contact the them if you see suspicious activity. The sooner you report it, the quicker police can respond.

Menomonee Falls crime alert

Police have investigated a series of thefts from vehicles that were parked in residential driveways in Menomonee Falls. They were primarily in subdivisions along Mill Road to Pilgrim Road.

Most of these thefts have been from people not locking their vehicles.

Residents are asked to do the following to protect themselves and deter these crimes:

HealthyWage, an online network that pays members who improve their health, has announced "The Wisconsin Matchup” winners. It was a three-month, state-wide, weight-loss contest.

This contest awarded top individuals and corporate teams with $18,000 in cash prizes.

More than 95% of The Matchup's contestants successfully lost weight. They lost an average of 4.5% of their starting body weight.

‘The Wisconsin Matchup leveraged our social network model proven to help motivate and sustain weight-loss,” HealthyWage co-founder David Roddenberry said. “While our company pays all Wisconsin residents $100 to lose weight as a standard part of our year-long program, we’ve found that the free $100 cash incentive is more effective at motivating weight loss when coupled with a matchup or other kind of contest to build excitement and peer support in working toward weight-loss goals.”

The top three winning Wisconsin Matchup teams for 2011 are as follows:
