Eager gamers wait for hours in line to buy 'Borderlands 2'

Eager gamers wait for hours in line to buy 'Borderlands 2'

When someone is determined to be entertained or have yet another way to enter an alternate reality through a video game, they'll brave just about any weather and stand in line for as long as it takes to be amongst the first people to buy the latest craze in video games.

A crowd of about 50 such interactive game aficionados did just that, at Midnight, in Delavan. Game Stop had extra employees on the sales floor and controlled the amount of people allowed into the showroom at one time. Some game buffs had been in line for five hours before the doors officially opened.

The game features the same characters as the original game "Borderlands", but the mission and enemies are new and the action is more detailed and rapid.

Local Verizon Customers left without answers

Local Verizon Customers left without answers

Do you have Verizon? Do you own an HTC Rezound? Have you been one of the customers awaiting the heavily anticipated ICS (Ice Cream Sandwhich) Update?  If so, you can hang up your hopes of getting it now.

ICS has been rumored to be made available for HTC Rezound users that was first made publc by a leaked email from a Best Buy associate in April 2012.  Many customers awaited the release date of April 9th to receive their Over the Air (OTA) update, and the day came and went like normal and left many dissappointed.

A second leaked article found online rumored the ICS to be released May 9th. Again, no results.

I took it upon myself to hold Verizon's feet to the fire and get an answer to the question being asked by so many: When will Rezound owners get the ICS update?

Midas stands by promise and gives woman her 21st free muffler

MENOMONEE FALLS - In 1962 Grace Braeger of West Bend paid $14.75 for a new Midas muffler for her 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.

Midas offers a lifetime guarantee on brake pads, shoes, shocks, struts and mufflers for as long as you own your car.

On Monday the company lived up to its promise.

“They’re a good company, they stuck to their word,” said Braeger.

Midas store manager Linda Pyka said the company has worked with Braeger over the years. She said they had to jump through a couple hoops this time.

“Grace called me about a month and a half ago; I special ordered the muffler from New Jersey and it finally arrived and last week,” said Pyka.

The 1957 Bel Air has a duel-exhaust system, which means the car has two mufflers.

Braeger has turned 117,100 miles on the car and she has been through at total of 23 mufflers; 21 have been free of charge.

Wanted: Community Reporters, news tipsters, local events

Normally writers don't include themselves in their reports. I thought it would be okay with my editor to make an exception today. Hopefully sharing my story will encourage you to consider joining me and the several other local Wisconsinite's here at BLOCKS.

I was privileged to became a community reporter with BLOCKS last summer, when the program was in it's infancy. I'm amazed at how it's grown and I enjoy reading articles that some of your neighbors and colleagues have written. I'm thankful to be a part of the team and FOX6 has been wonderful in working with me, guiding me along the way. Now is your chance to join us.

What is BLOCKS?

New phone book doesn't include residential listings

The new AT&T telephone books arrived in West Bend this week, noticeably smaller and thinner and without a residential white-pages section.

"How will my granddaughter reach the table if the phone book gets any smaller," asked grandma Joan Johnson who uses the book as a booster seat.

The new directory covers greater Washington County. It includes government and white pages business listings but unlike last year, the 2011 edition completely omits residential phone numbers and addresses.

AT&T spokesman Chris Bauer said the change to eliminate the white page residential listing is a customer convenience. “This is a program we’ve implemented around the country and in several markets in Wisconsin and it’s really about providing the consumers with a choice in how they want to access the residential listings,” said Bauer.
